Sumit Maitra, an alumnus of the Chemical Engineering Department, Jadavpur University, has been a Teacher since 1993, guiding students from various Boards from Class VI till various Engineering and MBA/MCA EntranceExaminations.
 

His quote, "there are no mediocre students, only mediocre ambitions,"
reflects the philosophy of his teaching. In fact, he revels in changing dull attitudes of students, more so in case of so called 'mediocre' students. Over the years, he has goaded students from all spheres of life towards redefining their goals mainly using his attractive style of teaching and exceptional ability to motivate anyone.

Sumit Maitra, has remained concerned about degrading teaching standards in schools and worsening of student-teacher relationships. He is disturbed by parents taking their wards too seriously and ultimately making a mess of their careers. Sumit Maitra, is otherwise a digital artist, and has edited & directed a number of documentaries.

His documentary "Out of Tune" examines the present student dilemmas and explores ways to improve student confidence and attitude. He holds screenings of his film followed by discussions with parents whenever possible.
